Business and Wealth Expo

Another day, another dollar as they say. Hopefully as our days go by it’s more dollars in each day than we know what to do with, but such is not the case for most in life. There is a way to increase the dollars you gain every day by using more of your entrepreneurial spirit and investing your time into business opportunities — off line or online.

Are you an entrepreneur at heart? Or, perhaps an investor looking for the right opportunity? If so, the Wealth Expo in New York would possibly be of interest to you, and it starts next week! The three-day conference features keynote speeches from well-known investment professionals, exhibitions by some of the largest public and private companies in the world, and opportunities to network like no other investment seminar today.

There are numerous sessions to attend over the three days. If I were to choose one, the session that sounds interesting to me is the one called, “Top Five Things to Consider Before You Buy A Franchise” by Colleen De Baise of SmartMoney.

Why would I select that session? Years ago I came up with a franchise idea, and although I have yet to pursue the adventure, it would be good to know the top five things to consider before anyone would want to invest in my franchise — if I one day realize the dream. I’m still optimistic that I will, but there are other priorities on my plate at the moment to iron out first. Timing is everything, but life goes by too fast so it’s important to pursue our dreams and goals, especially as entrepreneurs! :D

Investing in your future doesn’t have to only be through the market, and if you don’t have many dollars to invest then a business to create wealth for your future through hard work and sweat equity just might be the right viable option for you.

Not everyone can be so lucky to earn fast cash online from blogging, as it generally occurs over a period of time, which is certainly not fast! This is where one’s test of faith, patience and perseverance comes in. An entrepreneurial spirit is one that develops the patience to work for delayed gratification.

An entrepreneur is also the type of person that perseveres to maintain their goals even if they do not earn fast cash. Most people are not willing to work for delayed gratification, as a true entrepreneur will. That’s probably due to the fact that much of the world focuses on earning money as the only measure of success, which is far from true.

For every story that reflects someone who earned fast cash online from blogging or other endeavor online, there are many more stories of those who failed after they tried, and then they quit thereafter.

The best lesson we can learn is the fact that like this fellow, most people will not earn fast cash online, and we therefore must remember to not quit and to persevere!

Adsense in Posts with Blogger

One of my blogging friends Dennis mentioned on his blog that Blogger added the ability to easily add the Adsense codes into posts. This is in regards to those of you who are making use of the newer Blogger templates, which are widget ready.

Simple go to the “Page Elements” section in your Blogger admin panel and then select “edit” in the lower right corner of the blog post widget. The next screen provides color selections for your Google Adsense advertisements, and the ad formats to select from for placement within your blog posts.

Not sure what the best colors are for your ads? It’s simple! Select the colors that blend in with your template the best. You will see in the Blogger screen beyond the “edit” button that Blogger will show you your template colors so you can select the ones to blend best with your template.

I suggest that you pick the same background color as your template, and the same text colors as your blog posts text. The more the colors blend with your template the greater your chances of someone clicking through an advertisement as it appears to be more of a natural link, and less like an advertisement. That’s it! You’re done!

You’ll want to be sure to head on over to Dennis’ blog to learn some great tips and tools for Internet marketing, but I don’t yet have a link to provide because his site is undergoing some renovations! Thanks Dennis for sharing that new Blogger tip on your blog. :D

Many people get started in blogging as an avenue to market affiliate programs, and I certainly respect that goal. In fact, that was one of my initial thoughts before I began blogging as well.

Setting affiliate programs aside, I think it’s first more important for a person to identify what topic they would enjoy blogging about on a weekly basis, and secondly building traffic to the blog.

Why? First the obvious reason is due to the fact that if you don’t have enough traffic established you will not be successful with any of the affiliate programs. Zero traffic, or nearly none would equate to zero affiliate dollars from programs you are marketing.

The other reason is because you need to establish a blog on a good foundation based on what you would be passionate to blog about, and on a consistent basis. If you don’t build your blogs on that foundation then you will not have a desire to stick with it long term, which would of course quickly put an end to any goals you may have to market affiliate programs.

So, the real question boils down to, should you blog for money? Yes, perhaps. No, maybe not – lol. It really entirely depends on your goals, but base your decision to blog on what you’re passionate to write about, not based on hype or potential money you can make from a particular affiliate program.

That’s just my .02 worth to help a new blogger or blogging wanna-be determine the foundation to blog upon! :D

You have probably heard the news that broke earlier this week. Forbes slammed PayPerPost and those of us who are posties! Their article was not only demeaning to the bloggers who post for PayPerPost, but in my mind is also an insult to intelligent consumers. While everyone is entitled to their opinions, here’s mine if anyone cares to hear. In the Forbes article written by David Gelles, he stated;

What so enrages the masses online is that the soft sell is often concealed, disguised as an independent product or service review.

Is it just me, or is that not an insult to the intelligence of a potential consumer? Are consumers so easily deceived to not recognize a post as being a potential advertisement? Or, when they click through from a link within a blog post and land on a commercial site do they not comprehend that they just clicked through a link due to an advertisement? Furthermore, many of the advertisers require that the posties place a disclosure within the post to demonstrate that it is indeed an advertisement, or at the very least display a link on our blog to our advertising disclosure policy. Although David Gelles mentioned this fact, it was placed at the end of his article as if the disclosure policies serve no purpose.

Going further into the Forbes article he also criticized Colleen, the top postie for PayPerPost where she published an ad for a credit counseling company. He stated she should have used their services prior to publishing an ad for them! His response to her post was this;

Trouble is, the blogger pushing the site had never even used the company but was getting paid to flack it.

OK, this is the one I really have a problem with. I’m not so naive nor is the rest of the world to actually believe that every advertising agency out there publishing ads has “used the company” product or service prior to generating their ad! That is absolutely obsurd!

Here’s how ridiculous that is: Let’s just say for example that the particular credit counseling company he referred to had selected a different form of advertisement such as an advertising campaign with a newspaper, magazine or other form of media. Does that entity now have their people “use the” credit counseling service before they can do an ad for the company? Hogwash! Like any other form of advertising, bloggers or posties have the right to express their opinion after reviewing a companies website demonstrating the product or service they provide.

In a nutshell, perhaps the big dogs such as Forbes are angry with the fact that as bloggers take on the task of publishing advertisements, the big dogs will lose the grip they’ve had for so many years with raking in the millions of dollars from advertising. My take on this is they see the blogosphere as a threat to their “business as usual” and fear they will lose millions themselves from the advertising revenues they normally would generate from ads.

In closing, I would say Forbes’ attack against PayPerPost and posties demonstrates their acknowledgment of the power and influence bloggers have over the world. In that the majority of us blogging are considered to be the little guy or gal, our efforts combined together as a whole resulting from our voices heard through keystrokes may actually be a threat to the big dogs in more ways than we imagine! In my opinion, that’s a good thing! :D

What’s your take on Forbes slamming PayPerPost and those of us who are posties?

Blogging Away Debt

Debt and too many credit cards are something our society is plagued with, as well as other civilized nations. Suddenly, as we are overcome by accumulating too much debt we may become somewhat uncivilized to live with! As a blogger you have the opportunity to blog away some of your debt.

The most difficult type of debt to blog away is what you may have accumulated through the use of credit cards. As blogger’s we are also more vulnerable with possible online fraud as we seek to find other money-making opportunities such as ebook’s that we may purchase with the use of our credit cards, which can lead to making purchases from fraudulent sites if we are not careful.

As life goes on, the vicious cycle of debt accumulation continues, and we have the greater need of blogging for more dollars in order to avoid accumulating more debt through the use of credit cards! If we must have credit cards, the least we can do is to use the ones that offer the best rates and lowest fees, so you might want to use a card guide to locate the best ones.

If you are planning to blog away debt, I think one of the best strategies to apply is to not take on more credit than what you really should. Plus, in order to reduce the debt, don’t take on more debt than what you can blog away if that is how you will be paying off the cards! Long story short, stay focused on earning extra money from blogging if your goal is to blog away your debts!
