You’ve noticed I’m sure that many of our recent posts here are about some of the improvements that the Blogger platform has been making. This is due to the fact that I recently converted two of my blogspot blogs over to my own domains using the Blogger custom domains option. Well, Blogger just got better again!
Using the new Blogger in Draft option, you can now write blog posts in advance and select the specific date and time you want Blogger to publish the post AUTOMATICALLY!
This of course means that you can now hang out at the beach and leave your laptop behind, while Blogger does the work for you to publish your posts automatically! Awesome feature Blogger! Way to go! I tested the auto-publish feature on one of my new Blogger custom domain blogs, and it worked great! Here’s how to auto-publish a post for a later published date and time, using the new Blogger Draft dashboard:
STEP 1:
You need to get to the correct dashboard! You may not have ventured to this new Blogger in Draft dashboard I’m referring to, so pay close attention! Normally when you’ve posted in Blogger you’ve gone to your dashboard with the blue, orange and white Blogger logo, but the dashboard you need to be in is the Blogger in Draft dashboard. Okay, once you’re in the correct Blogger Draft dashboard, you’re ready to write and schedule an automatic date and time for a new blog post! Let’s go to the second step!
STEP 2:
From your Blogger in Draft dashboard, select the blog you wish to post to using the automatic publishing feature. Then select a blog post you already have saved as a draft, or write a new one. Now you’re ready to auto-publish a blog post for the desired time and date you specify. Select the menu option as shown here, and follow the instructions written in red:

Once you have selected your date and time, select “Publish Post” if you have finished writing your draft. Blogger will then automatically publish the post for your specified date and time. The auto-publish time and date will only be set if you selected “Publish Post”, but NOT if you selected “Save as Draft”! The Blogger dashboard will confirm your auto-publish date and time for the post with this message:

Once you have posts ready to be automatically published for a specific scheduled time you can locate them in your Blogger Draft dashboard where it says, “Scheduled”:

When you click on the “Scheduled” link, you can access the list of scheduled posts, which will show you the post name, date and time for when it is scheduled. The example below only shows the time since I opted to have the blog post auto-published the same day:

There you have it! That’s all there is to publishing a blog post from your Blogger Draft dashboard for your desired date and time! Thanks Blogger!

Now how is it I didn’t know about this? lol How cool is that! I had no idea Blogger had added this awesome feature. Woo Hoo!
Thanks for sharing!

Hi Wendy,
It’s good to see you here! Yes, it is exciting that we can now choose to have a blog post automatically published through our Blogger in Draft dashboard! I’ll second your “Woo Hoo!”
This will be great for me! I generally don’t have much time to write during the week, so I can write a few posts on the weekend, set it to auto publish them every few days and forget about it until the following weekend! Great feature! I’m looking at changing to my own custom domain too… just have to figure out a name, my blogspot name is taken.
Hi Angie,
It really is a great feature to be able to auto publish posts! Some days it’s difficult to get the time to do posts, but with the auto-publishing feature that should help everyone!
Once you convert your blogspot blogs over to your own domain you’ll be glad you did! I’m with you in regards to the challenge for a domain name. It took me at least a year to finally get inspired for the right name to come up with “Money Illusions”. Luckily though with my other blog Tall Sails Adventure, someone gave up that domain name so I was able to grab the same name that I had when it was on blogspot! Happy Blogging, and thanks for commenting!
While I don’t use blogspot for my blog anymore (now using Wordpress), it is good to hear they have this feature. It’s way awesome being able to write up a series as you want to, and have it scheduled to post weekly. Right now I’m doing two (tuesdays I have traffic exchange owner interviews and thursdays I’m doing a series on “spotting bad traffic exchanges”). Anyways, I know for a FACT if I couldn’t have these queued up for future posting, I’d not have them out weekly! So take advantage of it =P
Hi Tim,
Yes, the auto publishing feature is very handy! Of course it doesn’t actually write the posts for you though – lol. Wouldn’t that be something! The auto publishing feature will really come in handy for when bloggers go on vacation. They’ll just need to write and schedule their blog posts before they head out of town. Thank you for commenting Tim!
I just recently heard about this great feature that Blogger has now. I haven’t tried it yet, but I think I will soon. Thanks for the detailed instructions on how to do it. Thanks.
Thanks for the tip. Scheduling my blog posts was just was just what I needed. I didn’t now it was possible with blogger.
Thanks
Hi Adam,
Thank you for letting me know the information was helpful to you! It’s great to see how Blogger has become a much more powerful blogging platform.
Thanks for the info.

Helps me a lot.
Very nice.
Now if they could only make a tool to post articles in the past (not just backdate them), like the stock market prices, I’d be rich.
Hi RiverSoul,
Thank you for appreciating the information! MLMPyramidScams, sorry, but I’m not sure what you mean by your comment.
Thank Info..
You’re welcome Riva. I’m glad the information was helpful for you, and your blog looks nice!
