Blogger Video Feature

Blogger’s blogging platform has been making some changes recently by adding some new features. Did you notice any of those changes in your Blogger dashboard? Here’s a quick lowdown on one feature they recently added.

From your Blogger WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) editor, you now have the ability to upload your homemade videos directly into your blog! Here’s how to do it.

Open your screen to add a new blog post and in the WYSIWYG editor you will see a new button on the right side. Click the button and the screen to upload your video will appear. Here’s what to look for:

Blogger Video 1

Once you have clicked to add your video, then you will see the screen to allow you to upload your homemade video directly into your blog post! Here’s how:

Blogger Video2

That wasn’t hard at all! The difficult part is the time and energy to create the video, but it’s nice to have a way to upload them directly into your Blogger post without the need of using a third party provider. The possibilities are endless when you can add your own videos into your blog so easily.

Happy Blogging! :D

Blog Directory Submissions

One strategy for getting more traffic to your blog is to consider submitting your blogs to a good blog directory. When visitors search the blog directory, chances are if you have properly placed your blog in the correct category you will get traffic from the resource.

It takes time to build traffic, but once you have submitted your blog to a blog directory then essentially it’s like being on auto-pilot from there! If your blog is not yet where you want it to be in the search engines for a specific term or your blog niche, a blog directory is another way to help get traffic even before you rank high for a specific keyword or phrase.

There are many different blog directories out there, so do your homework with where you would like to add a blog. Here’s one blog directory you just may want to check out!

Domain Lock Down

Several days ago I purchased another domain, which now adds up to more future projects and fun online! As I was completing my registration process, I realized there was a bit of info I could share with you to help you protect your domain(s).

Most people lock their homes and cars everyday, and we also lock up other valuables. While online we use passwords to access Internet sites, and log off when we want to exit safely and essentially lock the door behind us.

What about your domains? Have you locked the door?

If you haven’t done so already, you may wish to lock up your domains. If your domain is registered through your host you should be able to locate the option to lock your domain(s) in the domain registration area of your control panel. Some hosts may provide an automatic lock feature and you won’t have to do it manually. If your domain was not registered through your host, then you would need to lock your domain from where your domain is registered.

Why would you want to lock your domain?

The locking of your domain will prevent unauthorized transfers to another registrar or web host, by protecting your name servers. You’ll just need to remember that if you want to do a transfer to another server that you will want to unlock it to do so.

By taking just a few minutes to lock your domain you will lock out third parties who would otherwise attempt to misdirect your name servers or who may attempt to do a transfer without your permission. In a nutshell, it’s a good thing to do and an easy way to obtain greater protection for your domain.

Blog or Weblog that is the Question

If you’re like me you probably frequent numerous forums. I’m sure you’ve also encountered forum threads where an individual expresses the fact that they want to have a blog, yet they really aren’t sure what a blog is. Hey, that’s OK, it is seemingly a strange name, or is it?

Created from the combination of the two words, web and log, the blog or weblog, was brought to life and given birth! In 1994 the blog evolved from an online diary, and the fact that it has been around that long may surprise some. Now we are living in AD, “after distribution of blogs” - lol, and many people have become addicted with how fun blogging really is. :D

If you recently learned about blogs and made the choice to create a blog, rest assured you are not the only one who has not known what a blog or weblog was until recently. For myself I didn’t know what blog’s were until several years ago. Like most of us who create blogs, once you learn how fun it is, as they say, the rest is history!

Happy blogging!

Summertime Blogging Blues

A seasonal downer may be what some of you experience with your blogs in the summer, and I’m referring to it as the “summertime blogging blues”, meaning your blog may be suffering from a downturn in traffic. Those who may normally be spending many hours online are perhaps enjoying outdoor activities, time with their families and time off for vacation.

Secondly, if you’re like me our weather has been terrible where I live in the Pacific Northwest and it just doesn’t seem like summer much at all! Have no despair though my blogging friends! By all means, don’t stop posting on your blogs due to any summertime blogging blues your blog (or you) may be suffering.

Even if it means you may be posting only once a week, that is better than not at all! Remember, what you post today is still online tomorrow, and what you post today could mean the difference in traffic you’ll experience once summer is over. Keep up the good blog posting and also enjoy your summer - that is if it’s summer where you are! :D
