As you probably already know Technorati has recently experienced some challenges with their system. If you are experiencing a challenge with your blog not getting updated when you’ve pinged them be sure to send a support ticket from your Technorati profile page. Otherwise you will miss getting your blog posts updated.
One of my blogs was affected and although I continued to ping their service it did not update my blog. Although I finally realized I was going to have to contact Technorati, I have around 4 posts which never were updated. So although they responded to my support ticket there doesn’t seem to be a way to go back and get those other posts updated.
The huge downside of the problem affects more than just the blog posts which were not updated by Technorati, but it also affects the number of link credits for the other blogs in which we may have linked to over that time. Unfortunately unless we re-write and re-publish those blog posts those links are not getting counted for those we linked to, as far as the Technorati stats go.
Be sure to look and see if you were due some link credits, and have not received them, although it doesn’t appear there is a fix on their end. I’m sure Technorati is working hard to make sure this doesn’t happen in the future again. Technology is great, but certainly far from perfect.
