Are you new to blogging or perhaps a seasoned blogger, and you’re wanting to start a new blog? Are you stuck on what to blog about? These pointers may help you decide what you could, or perhaps should, blog about!

  • Your Passion

Determine your passion, and what really motivates you. What do you really get jazzed about? What makes you tick? What gets your wheels in your brain to turn full speed ahead? I think many bloggers often pick a blog topic based on what a hot keyword or key phrase may be for the time, but they soon find themselves at a loss for what to write about! So stick with something you have a passion for, which may or may not mean you are extremely knowledgeable about the topic you chose. If you are not that knowledgeable about it, be prepared to do your homework and research.

  • Your Expertise

Most likely you have a subject you could be considered an expert in. Well okay, maybe you are not an expert on the subject, but you know more than most. Your expertise may have much to offer to other individuals, even though it may seem old hat or somewhat boring to you. Be cautious though and don’t pick a topic that you are totally burned out on! You may not want to write about it weekly, let alone daily!

  • Your Curiosity

Curiosity kills the cat, but not the blogger! You may have a subject that you have been really curious about and it has peaked your interest so much that it could become your next passion! Do your research and discover if your curiosity just may present you with a great blogging foundation.

  • Your Anger

Yes, your anger! There may be a topic, like a political issue that really has made you angry and you need a good source to vent your rants and frustrations about the topic! Who knows, if you take on the issue seriously enough you could even get some attention and become involved in presenting the issue to congress. At the very least perhaps blogging about what makes you angry may be a healthy source of anger management – lol!

  • Your Life Experience

What has happened during your lifetime? We each go through major trials in our life, which builds our character, or unfortunately sometimes, destroys our character and turns us bitter. Your life experiences are unique, and could become a rich source of inspiration for others to learn by. What trials did you face and how did you overcome those trials and get through it all? You may feel that your life experience isn’t anything unusual, but to someone who may end up going through a similar experience, your words may be just what they need to hear to help them get through their experience! Never undervalue your life experience as a possible rich resource for your blogging topic.

  • Your Newest Inspiration

Is there something that has become a recent inspiration to you? It may have hit you in the simplest way. As a blogger one way I get inspired is by looking at templates! In fact I was just doing that today! There were many templates that got my wheels turning and served as a new source for possible inspiration. I was looking at templates for my existing blogs, some of which I need to move from a free platform to my own domain, but I suddenly found myself inspired with completely different ideas for other blog domains as well. That brings up the next topic to help you determine what to blog about!

  • Domain Name Inspiration

I had this one happen to me earlier this month. One morning, I woke with a domain name as my first thought. “Where did that come from?” I asked myself. It wasn’t anything to do with a topic or subject that I have even entertained to blog about, nor had I even been thinking about it! But, what I did know was the fact that the domain name was a good play on words, so I figured if anything else I would secure it and if I never turned it into a blog or other site, I could certainly sell it. Well, what do you know? The domain name indeed was available! Since I secured the domain, my wheels have really been turning, and the newfound inspiration has given me fresh vision for a new site! So if you dream about, or wake up with a domain name on your lips – who knows it may be exactly what you should blog about! When you choose a domain name, never underestimate the importance of the domain name that you choose! :)
